Welder

In our manufacturing operations, WELDERS generally study blueprints, calculate dimensions, and then use that information to join metal parts or components together. Quality welds are essential to building reliable, structurally sound products.


Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts

  • Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job

  • Maintain and simple repair all machinery

  • Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors

  • Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes

  • Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions

  • Manual lifting by hand should not exceed 50 pounds

  • Any other job assigned by Supervisor
     

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Welding Certificate or equivalent training

  • Ability to do simple calculations (add or subtract) of dimensions to determine that parts being welded conform to blueprints

  • Understand welding symbols to determine type of weld and use of fillet gauges to determine the weld meets the print specifications

  • Experience with use of flex core welding wire

  • Knowing how to properly set the voltage and feed speed for the type of welding wire being used and checking the ground lead to be sure that it is properly attached to the object being welded
